sydney dweller's
I'm going to Sydney next week for a few days. Does anybody here know of any boutique beer places/breweries/restaurants in the cbd?
We're planning on going to the Lord Nelson hotel (best beer of all time) and some Bavarian beer house, but nothing else is on the cards.

the belgian beer cafe is probably the best we can offer. Has 50 odd belgian beers on the menu. My favourite place in sydney as its in a big beer styled hall.
The Lord neilson sucks... sure they brew their own beer but its terrible. Pretty much homebrew

dont go to the bavarian beir cafe's... they r really not that good. Also the Lowenbrau isnt a bad German pub. Its in a old German style hall. All of these are in the rocks though which makes them handy to walk amongst. Minus the bavarian cafe

Did a little bit of Googling. The Belgian and Bavarian beer cafes are on the cards. A mate went to a Bavarian one in Manly last year and loved it so we'll go to that one.
Also the Royal George - going there too.
DON'T YOU DARE BADMOUTH THE LORD!!! Lord Nelson's is the second best Ale I have ever tasted. I buy the stuff all the time.
Lowenbrau = lager = not interested.
Post links fellas of some of these places. The Jimmy Squire micro brewery sounds alright.

Re: sydney dweller's
this is what we currently have planned:
Friday - The Royal George, Belgian Beer
Saturday - Red Oak, James Squire Microbrewery, Lord Nelson's
Sunday - 4 Pines Beer (manly), Bavarian Bier House (manly)
there may be an extra place or two that I am forgetting. If you guys wanna catch up for a beer there should be plenty of opportunity for it.
We are going up solely to drink Ale's. That's the whole point of the trip.

Hey mate
I'm sorry but I won't be able to make it. Would have been great, but I have to work Friday night and that was the only time I would have been able to make it. Have a good one and hopefully catch up with you in the near future. Have a Duvel for me!

Just got home. Good weekend.
Sorry for not making an effort to meet you. We were flatout over there and I didn't check the forums at all.

Re: sydney dweller's
Red Oak Boutique Beer Cafe - nice ale's
Pontoon - 4pm-6pm = $4 pints of Jimmy Squire
Lord Nelson - because I think 3 Sheets is the best Pale Ale around
Bavarian Bier Cafe at Manly - great food and beer
4Pines Brewery Manly - Nice drinks
we went to Jimmy Squires there on the wharf too. It was good, but a bit too loud and busy for my liking.

Re: sydney dweller's
Went to Red Oak. Enjoyed it. They were doing some great German Wheat Beers due to Oktoberfest. Had some Irish Ale's, but they were a bit too harsh for me. Good place though, good price half-steins.
