Iphone 4S

This was the new phone announced at the apple conference last night. Hardly any difference in the looks but what's under the hood has improved.

what are peoples thoughts on the new version?

I think the stockmarket reaction (apple shares dropped) to the announcement says it all, it was a let-down.

My fiance has wanted to get an iphone all year(no she doesnt want an android), but I told her to wait as I knew apple were announcing something big later in the year. I was hoping for iphone 5, lol, what an anti-climax! Yes its good that its a better processor, but they could have annouced this back 3 or 4 months ago.

So now she is going to get an iphone 4S, then it will be outdated early next year when Telstra bring in the 4G network and their will be a 4GS phone. Then they will annouce an iphone 5. Meh.

I have been holding out myself on getting a smart phone (Stef and I both have crap, old phones) as I thought apple were going to annouce the iphone 5 and I wanted to see how it goes against the galaxy and the sensation. I will stick with an android. It will be good, she will get the 4S and I will (most likely) get a galaxy and then I can compare them.

More crap from apple. They keep releasing these half arsed phones because the dumb fuck fans keep buying them. Why not just milk these idiots of every cent they have.

In 2008 Apple Released the Iphone 3G; 2009 iPhone 3GS; 2010 iPhone 4 so makes sense that this year its due for the iPhone 4s.

As Gasman said if you want something with a dual core processer and a better (8MP) Camera go the 4S. The rest is all software on the new iOS5 which will be available for Iphone 3G/3GS/4 and iPad 1/2 at the same time through an update through iTunes.

Some of these features are a pull down Notification Bar (Android) and iChat which is a direct rip of BBM for Blackberry..hmm I smell a lawsuit

I was disappointed with this too. I was looking forward to seeing the iphone 5 and what they did with it. But it is frustrating how they keep releasing these slightly updated phones instead of just releasing a whole new phone every couple of years. Truly i think it'd be a better idea to just wait till the 5 is released instead of buying this slightly better 4.

Are you able to buy this phone in america and use it here? it says it's capable of being used in different countries but does that mean you can buy it unlocked and it'll work on one of our service providers e.g telstra? I'm asking this because my plan runs out early next year and the prices in america are far better then here so i'd just chuck in my sim here and be off with the races. cheers.

yes, just make sure u dont buy from Verizon. They use CDMA technology (no sim card). Just ask them to unlock it for you (if it isnt already)
