Why should I NOT buy an iPad?

Used one on the weekend , quite enjoyed it better option than a netbook

But, seriously, you would have to be crazy to buy a iPad over an EeePC at the moment. EeePC's can do so much more.

This I really don't agree with. They have similar hardware and, therefore, similar size. In addition to this they are approximately the same price.
Why the hell shouldn't a iPad be able to do everything a netbook can do?? Because Mac OSX won't run easily? Probably.
IMO Apple really could have made the iPad much better than it is.

Of course, you can argue that the iPhone and iPod touch app store pick up the slack, but does it really? Developers are still bound by the App Store terms and conditions which are pretty damn harsh. Windows and Mac OSX developers are not.

I can't see what is wrong with this since they are the two substitute products for each other.

The only thing that really distinguishes the iPad from netbooks is it's usability. It allows even noobs to do things they wouldn't be able to do on other OS's.
But, IMO, Functionality && Freedom > Usability

I mean, WTF is up with no flash??? What gives Apple the right to decided whether we can use Flash or not. They argue HTML5 is better, fine, it is, but that doesn't help us now... Or for the next year at least. Let ME, the consumer, decide what I put on my OS.

The ipad may have similar hardware but clearly a different intention to a netbook.
They are not the same.
Argue all you want, but a netbook is a netbook, an ipad is an ipad.
They are different.


If I wanted a netbook, I would have purchased a netbook.

And one other thing

everyone was up in arms when apple Didnt put floppy drives in there computers, then the technology died.

Flash is too hard on the processor to be considered pratical in the future, you'll see.
That being said, I highly doubt HTML5 is a decent substitute.

It is frustrating though, seeing as something like 97% of websites contain flash in some form.

I'm in agreeance (I know it isn't a word, but it should be) with you for most things, just think you missed the point of the device and have posted your opinion on a better option rather than a real alternative as there really isn't anything in the tablet pc categorie that can practically compete right now.

Agree with the flash , it should do flash, although flash always fucks up on my dads pc

No, initially he made a comparison, then he said apple should have done more.
If you noticed I said "I am in agreeance" with most things he was saying.
A complaint that a company could have done more can be made about any product, the ipad will fall under scrutiny more so because smart people don't like how such a simple device is so popular when they have a device that does twice as much.
The reality is that an average Joe, "noobs" as super said, do not need all this.

The iPad clearly has a target audience, it is not apples fault that a lot of people think that happens to be them when I can guarantee half of them they would be better off with a lap top or netbook.

I have done my research, I am confident my purchase was well informed.

The iPad's market is quite different to the netbook market.
It is very 'average Joe' tasks orientated. The iPad isn't going to provide the next Photoshop for a digital artist, or the next Microsoft Office for an accountant.
If you need that kind of stuff, buy a netbook/laptop.

For users that simply watch movies, listen to music, check emails, use Facebook and browse the internet (although I still hate the flash implication) the iPad does a better job of this.
Why bother with setting up Windows (or Mac OSX) and it's workarounds if you can just use the simple iPhone OS which is designed to do these kind of tasks.

The iPad isn't going to be the next laptop replacement, but rather an easy to use tool that 'just works', specifically for common tasks.

I am average Joe and I love my iPad. It is perfect for what i will use it for.

iPad is good!

Using it right now to type this. Typing speed is the same but it admittedly doesn't yet feel natural. Once I have been using it for a while it will feel better.

The apps are pretty awesome. Keynote is very good, it allows you to make presentations with such easy, although I doubt many will use an iPad to ore sent anything, haha.

My favorite app so far (only because I haven't set up kindle) is the PLAY magazine app. It allows you to view full issues of play magazine including all the ones from the last few months.
It has contents, bookmarks and a search tool making the magazine browsing a real pleasant experience.

Safari is just like on the iPhone or iPod touch, only much faster.

I will let you guys know more about it when I have played more. So far, exactly what i expected.

I don't know. It just worked intuitively for me.
