1/03/2010 & the PSN
It's Monday. If you own a fat PS3 (old 60GB, 80GB, 40GB) then don't turn on your ps3 if you have automatic sing-in on.
Some major problems are occurring right now. Basically you can't connect to the PSN, and for some reason the PS3's date has been set to 1999.
Everything that you have downloaded of the PSN will not work. Themes, demo's, etc are fucked. If you try to play a game that has trophy support (like I did, Heavy Rain) the trophy list will be removed from your collection.
Could possibly mean that everything you have done in that game might need to be done again. This is true for Warhawk, MAG, MW2 etc.

No solution or idea of time.
I've read that people with slims are ok.

hopefully they can get this sorted so that the people who have lost trophies and stuff get it back, surely that information is stored in a database somewhere?
So maybe those with the big ps3s should unplug the Ethernet cables and do a back up now. However trophies are server side so it is probably not going to help in anyway... Something you should really do anyway
Re: 1/03/2010 & the PSN
Apparently slims can connect to the network, but trophies will not be unlocked.
I'm pretty sure everything will be ok, data wise. Trophies, stats, saves and PSN items should all be good. We may have to redownload everything though.

Re: 1/03/2010 & the PSN
"from what i can gather it's a suspected hardware issue, or at least something that's been in the firmware for a while i think. reports are that it affects all ps3 hardware revisions up until the introduction of the 65nm chip units or thereabouts, regardless of firmwarey/onlinery.
as the slims/fattys run the same firmware with different hardware revisions, signs point to hw being root cause.
this doesn't mean that it's not fixable. if it is an "imaginary day" issue (being 29/2/2010) it may potentially resolve itself at 2/3/2010 0:00 GMT when the PSN Time and ps3 RTC time start sharing a page again."
saw this on the psn site (hope the copy and paste works. (teknologiklee challenged i am)lol.
may just have to fire up the wii (cringe) and wait till tomorrow

Re: 1/03/2010 & the PSN
"Everyone READ THIS PLEASE.
Here's what's going on right now: something with the PS3's internal clock has borked in some pre-slim models. This is not a PSN issue; it has to do with your PS3's clock. This clock is NOT related to the OS clock. It seems to be a leap year bug. Setting your clock ahead will do nothing. All PS3s around the world were affected at the exact same time.
Does this affect me?
-If you have a Slim PS3, you're good to go. Continue playing it as normal.
-If you have a "fat" PS3, you may be affected. Some fat PS3s have worked ok, but it seems a good majority have been bugged.
What does this bug mean?
-If affected, your date and time has been set to a random past date. This prevents you from signing into PSN, playing any PSN games, or using any DLC. Your trophies will also not display correctly or be able to sync.
How do I fix it?
-You can't. Even if you don't sign into PSN, it won't help. This is a hardware issue.
So, what do I do?
-Wait 24 hours. Other products that have had similar bugs have corrected themselves after the "bugged" day. On Monday around 8pm central time, all PS3s will automatically correct themselves...maybe.
-If that doesn't work, we'll need a firmware update from Sony, which should be a pretty important priority for them right now.
Did I lose my data/themes/etc?
Your save data/games/dlc/themes are fine. They'll be fixed when the PS3 is fixed. Trophies are uncertain right now, but they'll be fine if you've synced them before the PS3 was bugged. Unsynced trophies are an unknown right now.
If I have a bugged PS3, can I still use it?
It's probably not a good idea, as I have no idea what will happen to the trophies you earn during the bugged time. Movies/media will work fine.
So there ya go, my handy FAQ."

Re: 1/03/2010 & the PSN
So what classes as "Synced Trophies"?
Just viewing your collection and letting them load beforehand (gathering info for trophy information... message)? or actually pressing Triangle on the XMB icon and selecting "Sync with server"?
I was under the impression that it syncs whenever you look at them, because it has to load an updated list. I'd be kinda pissed off if this isn't the case, because I have properly synced in a long time.

If you click on your sig and log into PSN that way, you'll be able to see what has synced
