Final Fantasy XIV

Call me a nerd all you want but I am pumped for this game.
It is apparently very similar to FFXI (which I didn't get to play) which had a huge following of people who played for years and continue to play today.

It seems different to other RPGs in the way that you will be able to change class simply by changing gear rather than restarting a fresh character.
The characters level is not as important as it is in other RPGs, the level of the gear is the main focus.
So in this game you won't be limited by your class but rather limited by the amount of free equipment slots you have.

It is coming to pc in late september (apparently) but will not be released on ps3 until march 2011 at this stage.

Anyone else keen on this? Would be great to have familiar people to play with!

Just so evyone knows, this is made by a completely different team to the ones who make the other FF titles. The online counterparts are made separately.

i have the beta and it is all downloaded onto my laptop.. can't wait to start this up very soon..

this one is gonna be a proper rpg so im gonna love it.. will let you know tom but i probs wont play it till the weekend cos there are a couple of updates.. one's is gonna take me about 26 hours.. lol

hippi was saying that you can transfer accounts from pc to ps3 when it is released.. i'm gonna get pc first so i get a leg up. PC beta accounts can also be kept when the full game is released.

yeah man. just make sure for your region you put Europe, not North America..

hey guy's, just thought that I'd share my interest in this game also.

This game should be nothing short of epic!!! @ sparto that 26hr download may time out a bit or in my case alot.

Has anyone gave any thought as to what race and job they will be/have?? just curious as I have no idea what I'll do yet.

In other news you will have the option to add extra characters to your account for a nominal fee, (just like the character slots in mag) not sure how popular that will be, a monthly subscription is bad enough. Also when you are not logged in and playing the game you will get a NPC to act as a representative of yours to continue to collect money/items and do trade so you don't loose cash/items by not playing. (only relating to your job not quests.) you can also purchase extra NPC's for any extra characters.

it's already timed out a couple times for me aswell..
am i going to have to pay for stuff with the beta hippi??

nah, as far as I know all shall be free during the beta. which is great it will let me see if there is going to be any point in buying the extra's.

yeah i'll get this on whatever comes out first, PC or PS3. Been keeping an eye on the talk about it.

that download is being a massive cunt..
it stops after a couple hours but the good thing is that it restarts where it left off..
only bad thing for me is that im at school so it stops halfway through the day where i cant restart it.. hopefully i have it done by the end of the weekend.. lol

well I'm at 91.9% without a time out

Well overnight mine jumped from 43% to 47%.

I've decided to give up on it and download the patch files and install it manually.

Started 20 minutes ago and already at 8% (torrent).

Should be done by tomorrow morning.
