Booze, one of my favourite topics

Reminds me of my time in Adeladie, when I revilatised my love of beer. Pubs there are great, so..you know how it is.
I made some buds with these hip hop dudes who had this crazy house, complete with studio with decks, mics etc, awesome pit bike track in the back yard and a fridge dedicated to beer.

Home made job with a tap coming out of it, the dude had a couple of these stainless kegs which he rotated. You pour the batch from the brewing thingy (the beer-o-genesis vat) into the keg and stick it in the fridge, add a gas bottle and you have cold beer on tap. Must say he was a brew master of sorts, had it down pat.

On the otherhand, two of my best drinking buddies make homebrew, can't fucking stand it. One makes a Gold or a Light, it's dogwater, and the other makes it too heavy, you get too shitfaced.

From the international desk, I just spent three weeks in Thailand, worked my way through the local brews. I found Chang Draft on tap is a good drop when very cold, and there is a few good spots in Pattong that serve it. Got into tallies, they are 50 baht, around $1.50. Has a kick though, about 6.5%.
The rest of the local stuff is rubbish, along with the Singapore brews and Heineken that is readily available. Drank plenty of Havana Club over there as well, if you haven't tried a good Cuban rum you haven't lived.

I must admit I have lessened my drinking this year, feel heaps better for it.

Still enjoy it though, a pint of Coopers Pale please

Has anybody else had the Belgian beer chimay grande reserve? This is probably the best beer in the world. It is a little on the pricey side but well worth the green.

It is presented in a bottle with a cork similar 2 champagne. It is aged 2 perfection and leaves an amazing dark malte aftertaste. It's 9% alcohol but u can't taste it

Cost about
$25 for 750mL from dan murphys but at boutique beer cellars
$75 for a 1.5L magnum
140 for a 3L magnum

You an Ale man?

If so, Vale Ale is a new nice drop. You live in Sydney right? Go down to the Red Oak Cafe and have some Organic Pale Ale and Special Strong Ale. I recall the special Ale being fucking amazing.
Mountain Goat IPA is also a beautiful drink, but it's a little difficult to find.

Making our second batch of beer this coming weekend (well Monday actually). Going to make an IPA. It should be a bit more challenging than a Pale Ale, but if we pull it off it will taste amazing. Buying the ingredients tomorrow.

Here's our IPA. Turned out very nice. Extremely smooth and quite fruity. It's akin to a German banana wheat beer, but still has that 'ale' taste.

Tried James Squire IPA.

Can't say I enjoyed it heaps. I got a six pack of it as I had been meaning to try it and I am a fan of Squire beers. However I found the taste pretty bitter as well as the aftertaste. Not to say it was a bad beer, but any more than a couple and your throat feels really bitter.

Yeah, Jimmy's IPA isn't much chop. Try Mountain goat IPA if you can find it. AMAZING.

I've been drinking quite a bit lately (more so than usual). Dan Murphey's here recently imported a lot of America's big ale's, such as Sierra Nevada. Had the Sierra Nevada IPA and Pale Ale tonight. Both good beers.
Also had a Snowy Mountain Razorback red, or amber, ale. Quite nice on the palate. A bit going on (noticeably the malt) but it didn't have a strong aftertaste.

Had an Abbey pale ale too, another Aussie brewery (WA). Was fairly bland. A Fat Yak beats it any day of the week.

In regards to homebrew, Cannonvale Brewing (me and mates) have brewed a nut brown/dark ale. It's ready to drink now, as it's been bottled for around 7 weeks. We sampled it after the first fermentation, and it was delicious. Really looking forward to trying it (planning to do so when Essendon vs Carlton next week).
I'm sure nobody here is interested, but ill post a picture of the beer anyway. Maybe I should call it "Call of Duty Dark Ale".

I am currently trying to make the hall of fame at the Belgian beer cafe. You have 6 months to drink all 50 beers on their menu. It's pretty tough cause all the beers are at least 8%. If you have 4 in a session your fair sloshed... We will get there
